Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to join a dynamic and cohesive team. We are a high volume Robotic pelvic and upper tract cancer centre, with over 2750 cases completed to date. Two Intuitive Xi robots are located in Bradford Royal Infirmary theatres, including robotic simulation software and access to dual console for training cases. In recent years, the unit annually performs approximately 200 robotic radical prostatectomies, 30 robotic cystectomies, and over 60 partial/radical nephrectomies and nephro-ureterectomies.

There will be a tailored job plan to optimise training opportunities in robotic pelvic uro-oncology.

Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the designated Cancer Centre for the West-West Yorkshire region. The Urology in-patient elective and acute department is located at the Bradford Royal Infirmary. Outpatient facilities including day surgery, clinics and lithotripsy are located at St Luke's hospital and Westwood Park treatment centre.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be expected to take an active role in the department's teaching, research and audit programs. The on-call rota is a 1 in 6, 24 hour non-resident rota with support from a surgical Core Trainee/FY2, and a half day off following midweek on-call. This is a replacement post, with some of the previous post-holders leaving to commence a Consultant Uro-oncology Robotic post.
