Job summary

The Bradford Child Development Service provides services for children with neurodevelopmental problems/neurodisability including autism, school age children with significant neuro-developmental problems affecting their learning, Adoption and Children Looked After. Clinics take place at St Luke's Hospital Out-patients department and in Special Schools across the city.

Main duties of the job

  • Complete medical and developmental assessments of children referred to the Child Development Service and reviews of these children as necessary
  • Contribute to Educational Health Care plans as required
  • To participate in multi-disciplinary autism assessments and lead as required
  • To cover Community Paediatric colleagues in the event of sickness or to help out if the workload dictates
  • To maintain and continue multi-disciplinary team work with a multidisciplinary approach with all children who are seen in the clinics
  • To participate in fortnightly Child Development Service Educational Meetings
  • To attend monthly Child Development Service Management Team meetings
  • To participate in the rota for triage of new referrals (the postholder will not initially be part of the triage team but may provide this duty in future)

Qualifications

Essential

  • MBChB or equivalent medical qualification On Specialist Register with GMC and continue to hold a licence to practise MRCPCH or equivalent Paediatric CCT or equivalent, or within 6 months of AAC date.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience in management of children with developmental problems and neuordisability
  • Experience in assessment and management of children with autistic spectrum disorders
