Job summary

This post will be fixed term until July 2025 to cover a gap on the Ophthalmology specialty team. The post holder will attend clinics, laser clinics and on call casualty clinics, theatres and also participate in the on call rota.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will attend clinics, theatres and participate in the on-call rota. The Ophthalmology Department is purpose built and is based on the BRI site where there is operating theatre and ward provision. The ophthalmology department at Bradford is well equipped with some of the latest technology available including a number of Heidelberg Spectalis OCTs, facilities for OCT angiography, wide filed Optos imaging, Pentacam, retinal laser- Navilas, YAG and SLT laser, B Scan ultrasound, visual field analysers etc. while Electro diagnostic facility is available at the University of Bradford. A hospital wide electronic patient record is complemented by ophthalmology specific EPR -Medisoft. Two dedicated Ophthalmology operating theatres are equipped for all ophthalmic surgical procedures. The department has recently purchased a 3D operating system (Ingenuity).

To prepare the fellow for an academic career in vitreoretinal surgery.Clinical Duties:The Fellow will divide their time between the outpatient clinics, the laser suite, and the theatre.
