Job summary

Applications are invited for full time Clinical Fellows (DCT 2/3) providing 1st tier on call cover (1:6) in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The posts are aimed at individuals pursuing a career in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery who are undertaking their second degree. Contracts would be offered for a period of 12 months with the option to extend at the end of this period.

The posts aim to provide further experience of working at a middle grade/registrar level in the acute setting in OMFS. Thus experience at DCT2 level or above in OMFS would be desirable. The posts also aim to maintain contact of trainees undertaking their second degree with the specialty and provide a regular source of income during this period. As such, As the post is contracted income is pensionable and would contribute to reducing breaks in service during the second degree.

Applications are invited for the position of fulltime Clinical Fellow in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with a view to commence on DATE for a period of 12 months in the first instance.

Main duties of the job

The post provides further experience of working at a DCT2/DCT3 level in the acute setting in OMFS. The post also aims to maintain contact of trainees undertaking their second degree with the specialty.

These posts are Trust positions but there is good scope for obtaining surgical experience and further training. The unit's practice covers the majority of the scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, including Head and Neck Cancer, Facial Deformity, Trauma, Salivary Gland Disease and Cutaneous Malignancy. Currently Bradford has 7 Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, 1 Consultant Oral Surgeon and is well known for being a unit that is supportive of its trainees. Our team is complemented by a Consultant in Restorative Dentistry providing rehabilitation and advanced restorative management of surgical patients and 4 Consultant Orthodontists with whom we also work closely as part of a multidisciplinary team. We have good working relationships with our closely related surgical specialities of ENT and Plastic surgery.

  • Minimum of 2 years (FTE or equivalent) postgraduate training in the UK (or equivalent EEA training), of which at least 1 years training must be in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
