Job summary

Applications are invited for the post of Assistant Director of Human Resources.

Reporting to our Director of HR and People Services, you will provide operational and strategic leadership for the delivery of a quality, comprehensive and customer focused professional HR Management service that is aligned to the strategic and operational needs of the Foundation Trust. You willsupport the Trust to be effective, fit for purpose and to achieve its strategic objectives.

Main duties of the job

  • Oversee the implementation of HR best practice, leading specific strategic and operational projects on behalf of the Director of HR internally and supporting projects across the Bradford District and Craven Place where assigned.
  • Lead on the operational delivery and implementation of assigned People Strategy Work Plans, providing responsive and supportive solutions to on-going transformation within the Foundation Trust. Work closely with Divisional leaders, to ensure that programmes of work enable the Trust to transform according to wider strategic plans, meet its objectives and deliver against targets.
  • Through the delivery of a professional HR Service, to ensure the Foundation Trust applies and maintains high standards of HR best practice that reflects changing employment legislation and trends, delivers operational and financial efficiency in order to develop a modern and healthy workplace for all employees.
  • Lead on the development, review and implementation of HR policies, interpreting and researching employment law and national NHS policy. Providing guidance and training to Managers to ensure that HR policy and good employment practice is applied at all times.
  • In conjunction with the Head of Organisational Development and the Health and Well Being Manager, responsibility for leading and driving forward the Health and Well Being Agenda and the Management of Attendance and Health and Well Being Policy.

  • Proven previous experience of working in a senior human resources professional role in NHS organisations, or extensive equivalent experience in an equally diverse and complex organisation
  • Demonstrable experience of providing strategic HR and workforce leadership at a senior level in a large, complex, unionised organisation, including employee relations, people management, change management, performance management, policy development and service improvement
  • Proven track record in leading, developing and delivering a first class HR service
  • Experience of providing a HR Service where there are different employment models in place i.e. joint venture arrangements
  • Experience of leading and managing an employee relations service
  • Significant experience of consultation, negotiation and influencing different stakeholders
  • Experience of building personal and professional credibility with Board, Management Teams, employees, professional associations and external stakeholders
  • Experience of working with Trade Unions to improve employee relations and partnership working
  • Experience of dealing with Employment Tribunals and Early Conciliation claims including attending hearings
