Job summary

The post holder will assist the Topic Specialist (Competent Person) within the Trust in relation to fire safety issues with specific reference to Health Technical Memorandum 05 (Firecode) standards and meeting the requirements of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. To promote fire safety compliance throughout the Trust and ensure that all Trust premises maintain high standards of fire precautions.

The post holder will assist the Fire Safety Manager to ensure that the Trust governance activities reflect national and local guidance initiatives in relation to fire safety requirements.

The post holder will manage all appropriate polices, procedures, systems and arrangements are in place to support fire safety and that robust governance processes are in place to monitor the implementation and effectiveness of compliance within and across the Trust.

Main duties of the job

Summary of Experience/Skills/Qualifications required:

  • Post holder should have 3 years working knowledge of general fire safety preferably gained during employment with the local Fire Authority
  • Post holder must have first-hand experience of application of fire safety legislation and implementation of supporting strategies to safeguard the Trust's premises and the patients, visitors and staff of the organisation
  • Good standard of general education.
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • The ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of fire safety legislation and regulations appropriate to the Estate is essential.
  • Good communication skills and ability to deliver effective fire safety training.
  • Computer literate.
  • Willing to undertake further training in order to maintain CPD and fulfil the requirements of the post.
  • The ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of fire legislation and regulations appropriate to the healthcare environment is essential.
  • Ability to work as part of a team or on own initiative.
  • A flexible attitude.
