This is an exceptional opportunity for a specialist nurse with a keen and enthusiastic approach to contribute to shaping the future of nursing care through digital solutions. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Clinical Informatics team who are responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient use of digital tools. The role will ensure high adoption of new initiatives and technologies and support front line staff in delivering this. This role will involve the application of clinical knowledge and skills, along with a variety of clinical engagement techniques to work with staff in clinical areas.

The successful candidate is required to be able to demonstrate the Trust values, the responsibilities of the job description and person specification.

Main duties of the job

Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust deployed a single instance of Cerner Millennium across both Trusts in 2018 and this Electronic Patient Record system (EPR), has transformed the hospital and the care it provides to patients. It has also improved how we work as a team, making care safer for patients and supporting staff.

The postholder will support digital innovations acting as a leader and a representative of the Nursing profession, and will ensure clinical practice, supported by digital technology, meets professional standards.

Job responsibilities

  • As an ambassador of the Nursing profession, will ensure clinical practice, supported by digital technology, meets professional standards
  • Ensure the EPR system functionality adheres to / supports practitioners professional standards e.g. the NMC Code
  • Work towards the ambitions of The NHS Patient Safety Strategy, Digital Clinical Safety Strategy, and Guidance for Nursing on What Good Looks Like to evaluate the EPR and its ability, as an enabler, to meet the recommendations to drive up patient safety.
  • Practice in accordance with the NMC Code
  • Maintain competencies relating to digital leadership by attending regular updates such as local user group initiatives and national Digital Nursing Networks
  • Provide professional leadership including motivation of staff regarding the use of digital technology
  • The post holder will represent the programme at Trust wide and local meetings as required.
  • The Digital Nurse will be accessible and visible to staff and the post holder will be expected to work clinically one shift per month to support the directorate and maintain credibility.
