Job description
Job responsibilities
The Life Sciences Sector Deal 2, published in December 2018, included a commitment for the National Institute for Health Research Clinical Research Network to:
Establish five purpose- designed centres dedicated to late-phase commercial research in 2019/20. Identified through NIHR Clinical Research Network (CRN) competition, the centres will offer rapid set-up of late-phase commercial research, standardised contracting and delivery approaches where appropriate, and dedicated facilities and staff. They will increase the NHSs capacity to deliver research, enabling significant growth and opportunities for patients to benefit from early access to innovation.
In January 2020, Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was awarded funding for the Patient Recruitment Centre at Bradford to deliver late phase commercial clinical trials with speed and efficiency. One of only five PRCs in England, PRC: Bradford since officially opening in November 2020, is well established and now hosts many commercial clinical trials in several disease areas and has been a major contributor to the delivery of the COVID-19 vaccine trials.
Working collaboratively with the other PRCS, a consistent approach to operations allows a single sign-off in order to facilitate the rapid set-up of studies both within the acute sector but also in primary care.
