Job summary
Are you an experienced leader looking to further develop your operational experience? If so, an opportunity has arisen to join the Surgery and Digestive Diseases Clinical Service Unit (CSU).
The postholder will work closely with a triumvirate team including the matron and specialty leads, and will have a day to day responsibility for an operational portfolio with with a focus on delivery of the RTT, cancer, DM01 and emergency care constitutional targets.
The Service Manager will be supported by the CSU General Manager and other members of the triumvirate team.
Main duties of the job
The post holder provides management support to the Clinical Service Unit (CSU). He/she will have responsibility for the performance of administrative and clerical staff and will ensure that services are delivered within budget to agreed quality standards and in accordance with agreed activity levels.
The post holder will work on the strategic development of the CSU alongside other staff and senior managers within the Surgery and Digestive Diseases Clinical Service Unit (CSU).
This will include strategic and operational business planning and monitoring, and the development of relationships with key internal and external partners.
The post holder will ensure that the CSU functions as an integral part of the Trust and that CSU and Trust-wide objectives are achieved simultaneously.

- Proven track record of delivering sustained service improvement across organisational boundaries using a range of service improvement and project management techniques.
- Experience of establishing methods to review and compare performance, benchmarking against best practice and for establishing work programmes to address performance issues at a service, team and individual level.
- Experience of involving service users in service planning, re-design and in responding to complaints.
- Experience of working in the NHS environment.
