Lead Physician Associate
Full Time Position (37.5 hours per week)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, professionally driven, and enthusiastic Lead Physician Associate to lead our Physicians Associate team at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The role is split between working 2 days per week focusing on managerial duties and for the remaining 3 days you will be working in a clinical capacity.
Main duties of the job
You will provide strong clinical leadership, supervision and guidance to Physicians Associates across the Trust and operationally manage all Physician Associates. This role is an exciting opportunity to lead and manage the strategy for Physician Associates across Bradford. This will involve engaging with a broad range of stakeholders to promote and further develop the Physician Associate profession. You will be pivotal to enabling potential employers to understand this new role and to ensure Physician Associates are supported in their clinical practice.
You will be responsible for leading on the development of education, training, and workforce development opportunities in relation to Physician Associates within BTHFT working collaboratively across the local Integrated Care System.
You will be required to identify a clear vision of how these roles can be developed within BTHFT in line with specific clinical pathways and wider system agendas with the aim to maximise the workforce development investment available. In addition, you also will be accountable for ensuring that high quality patient care is delivered at all times.

- Experience, knowledge and understanding of current issues/themes affecting the NHS locally and nationally
- Significant experience in a healthcare environment
- Extensive post qualification experience
- Demonstrable evidence of a high standard of clinical practice
- Experience of staff management, including the setting of objectives, team and individual appraisal, recruitment and disciplinary issues
- Experience in developing and delivering training/teaching programmes
- Experience of supporting others in their developmental needs, such as clinical supervision of colleagues
- Has been involved in service development and has experience of initiating and implementing changes to services
- Experience of co-ordinating programmes in complex and challenging environments
- Budget management experience
- Experience of managing risks and reporting
- Experience of investigation and root cause analysis
- Experience in report writing and delivering presentations, to formal presentations

- First degree, or equivalent qualification in a related discipline
- Postgraduate Diploma in Physician Associate Studies

- Membership of UKPA
