Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology (D&E).
We are looking for a D&E consultant created by retirement within the current team. The post has a varied practice covering ward work along with clinics for diabetes and endocrine disorders.
The D&E service has an outstanding reputation for providing high quality Diabetes and Endocrine services, including antenatal diabetes clinics, multi-disciplinary diabetic foot clinics, diabetes technology clinics, diabetes transition clinics and diabetes young adult clinics. There are established pituitary clinics and radio-iodine clinics. The D&E team includes community, inpatient and outpatient diabetes specialist nurses, diabetes specialists dietitians, podiatrists specialising in diabetic foot disorders, psychologists, along with endocrine specialists nurses. There is also access to research via an active R&D team.
Main duties of the job
The post includes responsibility for Diabetes and Endocrinology inpatients on a 1 week in 6 rota including Saturday ward rounds. With further recruitment this is intended to become a 1 in 8 rota including weekends.
The post holder will contribute to a Category A on call.

Additionally the appointee will provide cover for the dedicated Diabetes and Endocrine ward by delivering ward rounds and providing specialist Diabetes and Endocrine advice to other areas of Bradford Royal Infirmary.
The Diabetic Antenatal service is currently undergoing a redesign in part due to the increased number of patients attending the service each year. A new post holder will be expected to contribute to this service development which will also include delivery of a specific Endocrine Antenatal clinic.
