Job summary

The role promises to be both interesting and challenging involving teaching, assessing and supporting the educational needs of all members of the nursing teams within the care group across a diverse range of specialties.

We're looking for a charismatic and engaging individual who can connect with clinical nursing teams at all levels and support cultural/behavioral changes within teams to ensure improvements in the delivery of the best possible patient experience.

The role aims to enhance the quality of the learning environment and positively contributes to the development of a workforce which is fit for purpose.

The successful candidate will be part of the practice educator team within the CSU covering Care of Elderly, IMC, Stroke, Frailty and Acute Medical Units.

As well as the opportunity to develop personally and professionally, you'll have the chance to use your creative skills in delivering training and education. You'll be supported through an annual appraisal and personal development planning too, and have access to all the training you need

Main duties of the job

The post holder will contribute to the overall quality of education for all staff and trainees within BTHFT Urgent Care CSU

The post holder will design, deliver, support and evaluate training courses related to:

  • Mandatory and Statutory Training (MaST)
  • Pre-registration curriculum delivery (including but not limited to HCSWs and nursing).
  • Clinical
  • Professional
  • Simulation training (both in the Sim Centre & in the clinical area).

The post holder will work closely with the CSU Leaders and education lead to identify and respond to identified training needs ensuring we are providing a relevant and targeted approach to education provision. The post holder will be a visible presence and work proactively with the department to support all staff and learners with their educational needs. This will include offsite work within intermediate care facilities (St. Luke's Hospital, Westwood Park and West Bourne Green).

  • Recent, relevant clinical experience in an acute healthcare setting
  • Experience of teaching / on a 1:1 basis or in a group setting or/and evidence of learning a clinical skill / using this skill in practice
  • Demonstrate commitment to continuing professional development and life-long learning
  • Team building experience and ability to work well within a multi- disciplinary team
