Job summary
Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Gastroenterology with an interest in Nutrition, IBD or advanced Endoscopy at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This offers the opportunity to join a cohesive and progressive gastroenterology and hepatology department, which has an excellent track record in clinical service delivery, research, teaching & training.
This is an exciting opportunity to appoint to a full-time consultant position. The post holder is expected to have broad experience of gastroenterology and endoscopy, contributing to the core Gastroenterology elective and emergency service. The department offers Complex IBD, Nutrition, Hepatology and hepato-biliary expertise in addition to advanced therapeutic endoscopic services and a bowel cancer screening service.
The GI service has an outstanding reputation for providing high quality gastroenterology services, including access to research via an active R&D team, specialist Hepatology, nutrition and IBD teams with dedicated specialist nurse support, and full access to ERCP, EUS, Spyglass and both small and large bowel capsule endoscopy.
The endoscopy unit is in the process of a major redevelopment which will increase the number of endoscopy rooms from six to eight. The department recently secured a multimillion pound funding award to build a brand new endoscopy unit with 8 rooms fit for future and work is expected to commence soon with completion date set for 2025.
Main duties of the job
The post is designed to ensure a long-term stable Nutrition, IBD and Advanced Endoscopy service. The Trust is committed to providing in-house training of these techniques if applicants have not attained independent practice prior to appointment.
The successful applicant will join a team of 11 WTE gastroenterologists fully supported by specialist nurses and advanced diagnostic services. They will participate in a 1 in 11 category A out of hours on call rota.
