Vascular theatre lists are largely utilised to treat patients in time critical pathways. There are a small number of procedures that fit an elective 18 week model (including the small number of patients having surgical treatment for varicose veins and some procedures that address quality of life rather than limb salvage or risk of life threatening events) however the majority of patients are in a time critical pathway as an inpatient, virtual ward patient or outpatient.

These include Aortic aneurysm surgery , Arteriovenous fistula for , Lower limb Chronic Limb Threatening Ischaemia, Carotid endarterectomy, Lower limb Chronic Limb Threatening Ischaemia and major limb amputation

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will be an effective co-ordinator between the multidisciplinary teams and the patient/client within the Vascular service and will ensure that these patients are prioritised and listed for theatre to ensure that lists are efficient and optimised. The co-ordinator will be responsible for ensuring that each patient has a seam less journey throughout their pathway.

Applicants will require experience within a surgical speciality and ideally have vascular experience. You will work alongside a strong, cohesive and well established team. You will be dynamic and skilled individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to provide an effective and high-quality patient focused service, with a clear understanding of the issues in relation to vascular surgical patients
