Main duties of the job

Responsible for providing personalised, continuous antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal midwifery care by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating targeted programmes of care for women and their families as an autonomous practitioner

To facilitate the delivery of care to a defined group of women. To assist in implementing individualised midwifery care.

To provide midwifery advice to junior staff and to support women and their families in making informed choices around their care.

To assist in setting, maintaining and improving the standards of midwifery care within the Trust,

To provide and maintain high standards of midwifery practice in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) The Code: Standards of conduct, performance and ethics for nurses and midwives (2015)

To liaise with and maintain good relationships and communication with midwifery colleagues. To seek advice and support from senior colleagues where appropriate.

To participate in research/evidence based practice.

To enhance clinical skills in all aspects of midwifery. To further own professional development and knowledge. To attend mandatory study days.
