Applications are invited for a consultant post in the Plastic and Reconstructive surgery department at Bradford Royal Infirmary.
This is a FULL-TIME Locum position with a view to being substantive.
There is very close collaboration between the Plastic and Orthopaedic Hand Surgeons with regular MDT clinics with our specialist paramedical teams. We are fully supported by ESP Hand therapists plus our well-staffed hand therapy service. We are also a tertiary hand trauma centre and register as such with FESSH.
Main duties of the job
Main duties of the job will mean the successful candidate will be expected to be part of the general trauma on call and work collaboratively with colleagues to treat the more complex hand and wrist injuries. Within their elective practice, there will be skin cancer and general plastic surgery commitments alongside the Hand elective workload. They will ideally develop a service that complements their colleagues and enhances the ability of the department to meet the needs of our patients.
The successful post holder will participate in a week and weekend Trauma on-call rota providing emergency services to Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Candidates should show evidence of a commitment to improving patient outcomes and have the enthusiasm and personality to help develop their subspecialist interest.
The successful applicant will be an excellent team player who is willing to be flexible and develop skills within a cohesive department. In addition, we are looking for a surgeon who will contribute to audit, participate in and initiate research and who will be actively involved in clinical governance, administration and other management tasks. Alongside these aspects, the appointee will participate in the training of medical students and junior doctors. The trust has a large teaching department with simulation suite and a wet lab with human tissue licence, in additional course are run as part of the RCS England and BAPRAS portfolios.

In 2021/22 our Trust services delivered 5,525 babies, performed 13,102 operations in theatre and handled 423,154 outpatient appointments. We had 108,503 attendances at our Emergency Department.
