Consultant Clinical Psychologist (Children and Young People) in a Clinical Health Psychology setting
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist to join us in leading and continuing to develop our well established Child Psychology service, which sits within the Clinical Health Psychology Service of Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The Trust is a genuinely innovative and forward thinking employer that sees collaborative work with our communities as central to providing high quality care to populations struggling with multiple health and social challenges.
The Clinical Health Psychology Service of Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust consists of over 40 clinical staff including Clinical and Health Psychologists, Counsellors and Social Workers working across a variety of specialties. We have an excellent reputation for the services we offer, and place a high value on CPD, supervision and personal support. We regularly take trainees from the Leeds Clinical Psychology training course as well as trainees from other professions such as Counselling Psychology and Counselling courses.

Main duties of the job
The post is responsible for managing a team of 10 staff and for leading the delivery of a Clinical Psychology Service for children and young people which currently covers the following areas:
- A service to the Child Development Centre for children who require assessment and intervention in relation to possible Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), and to support children (under 12y) with disabilities, and their families.
- A specialist service to children and young people with Diabetes (Types I and II).
- A newly established post in the Trust's Neonatal Unit (a Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit).
- A service for Paediatric Outpatients, including children (under 18y) and families referred from Respiratory, Rheumatology, Gastrology and Palliative Care pathways, as well as those with multiple co-morbidities.
There are likely to be opportunities to develop the contributions that the team makes to the care of children, young people and their families in the years ahead and opportunities to develop business cases for extending the services offered by the team. The post-holder is part of Clinical Health Psychology senior management team and other responsibilities may be required

- Extensive experience of working as a qualified Clinical Psychologist, including substantial post qualification experience in paediatric / children's services.
- Experience of working with children and young people with a wide range of conditions, presenting with the full range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings including outpatient and community settings, including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
- Experience of (neuro)developmental assessments for the differential diagnosie of individuals with possible neurodevelopmental difference (e.g., ASC, ADHD), learning difficulty, disrupted attachment, etc.
- Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for the psychological care and treatment of children, young people and their families, both as care co-ordinator and also within the context of multi-disciplinary care.
- Experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision.
- Experience of the application of psychology with an awareness of different cultural and ethnic contexts
- Experience of managing quality and service improvement initiatives
