In April 2024, a brand new state-of-the-art day Case unit will open at St Luke's Hospital in Bradford and will solely deliver planned surgery to help reduce the backlog of patients waiting for surgery. This £18 million investment is planned to deliver up to 5,760 day case operations a year. This will help tackle local health inequalities whilst promoting the best outcomes for patients and providing new employment opportunities for local people.
Located on the existing St Luke's site the unit will bring together the skills and expertise of staff under one roof - reducing waiting times for some of the most common procedures. It will focus on providing high volume, low complexity surgery including trauma and orthopaedics, general surgery, urology, gynaecology, plastic surgery, and colorectal surgery.
The day Case unit will be made up of 2 theatres running 6 days a week in a facility where operations can be performed quickly and effectively in one place, improving quality and efficiency, meaning patients have shorter waits for surgery and will go home on the same day.
If you are interested in being part of this new and exciting development and want to help us deliver our vision of providing outstanding care for our communities across Bradford in a modern patient care environment, we want to hear from you.
