Job summary

We are pleased to offer the opportunity for a motivated, enthusiastic and dynamic individual to take on the rewarding role of Deputy Matron for Theatres within the Planned Care Group. Previous experience at Band 7 is essential to support this fast paced, dynamic and rewarding role.

We would ideally invite applicants with background in theatres and surgery. Furthermore you will be required to support and engage with our Outstanding Theatre Services Programme which has gained regional and national recognition for its approach to supporting staff across a range of key workstreams including health & wellbeing, training & education, improving our physical and digital infrastructure and producing excellent leadership development opportunities.

Main duties of the job

To provide support to and deputise for the Matron

Through strong clinical leadership and effective management the Deputy Matron will support the Matron and Departmental Senior Sisters/ Senior Charge Nurses to promote and deliver excellence in nursing care maintaining and continually improve clinical standards evidenced by achievement of key quality performance indicators.

Ensure patients are assessed, have care plans that are implemented and evaluated in accordance with the Trust's and NMC requirements.

A Key responsibility is to ensure that the patient experience is of the highest quality inspiring patient and public confidence. This will be achieved through high visibility, accessibility and surveillance.

Act as lead nurse for the care of Vulnerable People within their sphere of responsibility linking with the Named Professionals as appropriate.

To lead on Absence management, ensuring all Teams monitor their sickness and complete sickness meetings.

To be the nursing lead as a member of the multidisciplinary team providing advice and advocacy.

Promote a culture of learning and quality improvement in the clinical area.
