Job summary
We are looking for a permanent full-time Band 6 AHP/pain therapist (physiotherapist or occupational therapist) to join the Pain Rehabilitation Team. This is an ideal opportunity for AHP's who enjoy the challenge of a varied, often complex clinical caseload, who wish to develop their Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), clinical reasoning and rehabilitation skills further and are keen to integrate into this progressive pathway of care.
The Pain Rehabilitation Team offers a hybrid service comprising 60% face to face working (1-2-1 and group short courses), and 40% telerehabilitation (telephone and video consultations). We are innovative, empathetic, compassionate, accessible, with a focus on enabling people to change what they do, so that other people around them can appreciate/see those changes too and validate their experience. As a team we are good at adapting, comfortable being uncomfortable, listening, showing empathy, working with advanced digital therapeutics (Virtual reality immersive therapies), creating opportunities, being consistent and genuinely wanting to help the patient be the best version of themselves despite having chronic pain. Apply if these values are congruent with your own. We look forward to hearing from you.
Main duties of the job
Foster an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) framework for all consultations and treatment interventions
Deliver rehabilitation clinics: 1-2-1 and group therapy sessions across Pain Rehabilitation services.
Utilise well established referral pathways across Pain Rehabilitation, MSK, Spinal, Orthopaedic, Women's Health, ENT/Vestibular, Rheumatology, ME/CFS, Community ICT and neurology, Talkworks and mental health services
Become a valued member of the MDT
Pursue opportunities for training and development including Solution Focused Therapy sessions, 1-2-1 supervision, Clinical Interest Groups, and Fellowships.
Participate in appropriate clinical audits, data collection and comply with professional standards and Clinical Governance.
About us
As an organisation Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust (TSDFT) values staff and the diverse experiences and contributions they bring. We pride ourselves in being an inclusive organisation where every individual has the opportunity to make a difference. We are a mindful employer recognising employee health and wellbeing as a fundamental part of our success.
TSDFT is a leader in innovation-integrated health and social care across acute and community services. Our aim is to provide high quality, safe health and social care at the right time, in the right place to support the people of Torbay and South Devon to live their lives to the full. The Physiotherapy Service is integral to ensuring that this statement of purpose is delivered to our communities. For staff this gives unequalled scope for joint working, skill sharing and learning in a supportive environment.
Why work with us - Torbay Hospital provides acute care for the local community and has several community hospitals, and is a hot-spot for those who are considering living by the sea or within half an hour of Dartmoor National Park and an hour to Exmoor National Park. Meanwhile, Plymouth and Exeter are also both within a short drive to enjoy the culture, maritime history and shopping experiences.
