We have an exciting opportunity to appoint 1.0wte Band 6 Specialist Diabetes Dietitian into a permanent role in our team.

This is an ideal opportunity to enhance your skills and develop new knowledge in supporting people to self manage their diabetes. You will be well supported by an experienced friendly MDT of diabetes dietitians, nurses and doctors, and offered mentoring and CPD opportunities.

Our dedicated team of specialist dietitians work within a range of specialist diabetes areas including Type 1 and Type 2 patients, lipid service, antenatal clinics, insulin pump clinics, diabetes self management education and transition service.

Main duties of the job

You will provide specialist dietetic advice for people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes, and lipid disordersin independently led dietetic clinics and in MDT clinics.

Use enhanced clinical reasoning skills to provide specialist dietetic advice for patients who may present with diabetes and other multiple/complex physical and mental health needs. Considering patients own personal health goals.

Provide patient education in group settings for those newly diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and including carbohydrate counting education.

To teach and support other members of the MDT and other healthcare professionals working on acute wards and in primary care.

Undertake department and team audit and contribute to service development work.
