Job summary
As an autonomous practitioner you will be responsible for the provision of specialist, evidence-based care to Haematology patients in the hospital and within the area covered by Torbay and South Devon Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (TSDFT).
- You will be required to travel to community hospitals, for clinics to see patients and liaise with colleagues.
- Dependent on the applicant this post is a developmental post in the specialty area of Haematology nursing
- You will develop their competencies within the specialty area working within the departmental competency framework, taking an active role in continuing professional development
- Weekend working and home working may be required to provide a service model that meets future requirements.
Main duties of the job
The Haematology (Malignant/Non-Malignant) CNS role is a key worker role and is a core member of the Haematology team in TSDFT. The Haematology CNS addresses patients' health concerns and works to promote their health and wellbeing. Using their skills and expertise in haematology care, the CNS provides physical and emotional support to their patients coordinates their care services and informs and advises them on clinical and practical issues associated with their diagnosis. This leads to a more positive experience and outcome for patients.
