We are delighted to have the opportunity to offer the position of a Consultant Urological Surgeon. We are looking for a motivated and skilled individual to join our busy, friendly and innovative department. Excellent communication and team working is essential. All specialty interests will be considered. Of particular value would be an interest in benign prostate outlet surgery including holmium laser enucleation,aquablation and rezum and/or paediatric urology. An interest in urologicalcancers, in particular prostate and bladder would be most welcome
We have a dedicated outpatient unit (UIU) at Paignton Hospital with space for outpatient clinics and procedures including TP Biopsy and TULA laser.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidates will assist in providing a comprehensive general and specialised urology service for the population of South Devon. We have close links, excellent working relationships and established pathways with the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital, who are the regional Pelvic Cancer Centre. There is an opportunity for cross site working for suitably skilled candidates.
We are also looking to expand our paediatric urology service across both Torbay and the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital, and a special interest in this would be welcomed. Both hospitals are a short distance apart served by excellent road links.

Other sub-specialist interests will be considered.
The ability to communicate and work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team is vital. It is also anticipated that the successful candidates would contribute to increasing the national profile of the department.
About us
You will be involved in the on-call rota. Torbay shares the on-call out of hours servicewith the Royal Devon University Hospital in Exeter and currently covers 1week night as part of a regional on-call. With 2 new consultant posts Torbaywill provide 2 nights per week on-call.
During the week the on-call service at Torbay is provided from 8am - 6pm Monday - Friday with provision of a Saturday morning ward round and on-call service until 1pm. On-callprovision after 1pm on a Saturday is provided by the regional on-call teambased in Exeter.
You will work closely with consultant staff in related specialties, in particular generalsurgery.
You will contribute to audit within the speciality and research if interested.

- Full GMC Registration (with licence to practice)
- CCT in Urology If Pre-CCT (CCT must be within 6 months of interview)
- FRCS
- Entry on Specialist Register either with CESR or European Community Rights
- Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCST in Urology
- Applicants must meet professional health requirements (in line with GMC Standards / Good Medical Practice)
