Job summary
Manage specialist clinical pharmacy services, including: -

- High-cost medicines
Lead, develop and deliver the planning and provision of clinical pharmacy services for outpatient facing specialties including rheumatology, dermatology, gastroenterology and ophthalmology
Work closely with Senior Clinicians and the Specialist High-Cost Drugs Pharmacist to ensure that high-cost drugs are used in an evidence based, safe and cost-effective manner in outpatient facing specialties.
Be an integral part of the clinical pharmacy team.

Main duties of the job
Manage Specialist Clinical Pharmacy services.
Develop and lead the provision of the clinical pharmacy service to outpatient facing specialties, ensuring high quality, safe evidence based, cost-effective pharmaceutical care for patients including rheumatology, gastroenterology, dermatology, and ophthalmology
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders eg senior clinicians and nurses in rheumatology, dermatology and ophthalmology in order to ensure safe, evidence based and cost-effective use of medicines in outpatient facing specialties that is in line with national and local commissioning policy.
Provide timely, accurate, highly specialist clinical advice, including biosimilar expertise to clinicians, nurses and patients in relation to medicines optimisation for outpatients with long term conditions.
Working with appropriate clinicians, perform horizon scanning, evaluate new medicines and develop locally specific guidelines, policies and protocols that are evidence based and in line with national guidance.
Supervise and manage the specialist pharmacists for outpatient patient specialties.
