Job summary
We are looking for a passionate Head of Service to lead our Podiatry and Orthotics services. You will join an established team focused on providing an excellent Podiatry and Orthotics services for the people who access these services.
You will be the professional and operational lead, working closely with the Associate Director of Nursing and Professional Practice, Head of AHP Workforce and the Deputy Chief AHP to ensure high quality patient care and achievement of both departmental and organisational objectives.
You will have strong leadership skills, a comprehensive understanding of the services ,be able to manage conflicting demands on their time and be able to make high pressured decisions.
Main duties of the job
Ensure performance management targets are met and delivered within prescribed budgetary limits.
Ensure that the highest possible standard of podiatry and orthotics is delivered effectively and efficiently to patients, contingent on need.
Responsible for advising Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust on Podiatry service provision and actively contribute to service modernisation across Torbay and South Devon area.
Provide and oversee the professional leadership, operational management and clinical governance frameworks for these services
Provide management of The Devon Foot People income generation budget
Procurement of orthotics service, approval of ordering of specialist equipment and monitoring of stock and supplies
About us
The Podiatry Department works from 13 different locations across the South Devon Area. The department consists of approximately 49 WTE Podiatry staff. The orthotics Department works from 5 different locations and consist of 3 WTE staff. We are a forward thinking department who have patient care as the top priority. The Departments are focussed on providing the highest standard of care to our patients and using innovation to improve care, such as the use of VR headsets in nail surgery and development of a diabetic foot app.
We are an innovative, dedicated friendly team who undertake regular supervision sessions and keen to support people reach their full potential.
