Job summary

The principal purpose of our Outreach Worker is to improve the health and wellbeing of people with a range of substance misuse difficulties. This will be achieved by:

Engaging with individuals experiencing substance use and support them to access drug and alcohol treatment

Concentrate on engaging with individuals who are not currently accessing treatment and will have a particular focus on opiate clients

Most of time will be spent working out in the community, at a range of venues across Torbay. These will include outside spaces, Shrublands House, Leonard Stocks Hostel and venues where those hard to engage often frequent

Collaborate with staff from the RSI team, mental health teams and town centre wardens as well as other partners in the community, exploring innovative methods to engage individuals into treatment.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about what we do, and with a positive and engaging approach to our service users and staff

Main duties of the job

Support people through recovery from drug and alcohol use by practicing an empathetic and always understanding approach

Act with professionalism and integrity, being a role model to those around them and ensuring everyone has an equal opportunity

Provide a service that is tailormade to meet the needs of the individual and to understand that our patients / customer needs an adaptable and responsive approach

Work as part of a team demonstrating effective communication and work collaboratively with colleagues inside and outside of the department

Be curious and creative about new possibilities, whilst identifying what works well and to do more of it
