Job summary

Torbay Carers Services are pleased to invite applications for the following role: Carers Services Project Officer (15 hours per week, fixed term of 12 months). The post will be based in our Carers Services offices across Torbay.

The post-holder will support Torbay Carers Services Team with defined projects/areas to improve the experience of Carers in Torbay. The role will include delivering short-term projects on time to achieve strategic demands.

Key elements of this role will include supporting the Carers Lead and service managers; linking in with partner organisations (existing care providers, community voluntary organisations, and private businesses not currently involved in the care sector) and Carers to meet defined project objectives.

The role will include delivering short-term projects on time to achieve strategic demands, while maintaining oversight of the wider Carers Strategy and facilitating its wide-ranging strategic outcomes.

The role offers a unique opportunity to support the development of services while Torbay Carers Service adapts to ever-changing demands on Carers in Torbay.

Main duties of the job

  • Supporting Torbay Carers Service to deliver strategic time-defined outcomes in support of Carers.

    Supporting the Carers Service in developing relationships and working with stakeholders to achieve project outcomes that meet the needs of Carers. These should also prove sustainable by understanding and responding to the needs of stakeholder groups/organisations.

    Co-producing developments and engaging with a variety of Carers whenever possible. Bringing in knowledge and expertise from the wider Carers community (Carers, Carer Evaluators, partner organisations etc.).

    May undertake Carer Support work and Carers Assessments with TSDFT staff who are carers.

    To support key events for Carers across the year, such as Carers Week, Carers Rights Day and Young Carers Action Day.

    As part of Carers Services raising awareness and understanding generally to support the identification of Carers and to promote the offer of Torbay Carers Services in terms of support to Carers etc.

    To support the development of projects and programmes of work that meet the outcomes Carers have told us are important to them.

    At all times, to ensure that care and support is delivered in accordance with the Care Act 2014, Children and Families Act 2014, NICE guidance and the organisation's own internal standards and values.

    Supporting and advising Carers who attend Paignton Carers Centre.

  • You will be required to communicate with a wide variety of stakeholders in an appropriately clear, timely, and consistent manner, and through a variety of channels (which may include giving presentations or writing reports).
