Job summary
This post will be based at Torbay hospital within the Joint In-Patient therapy Team. To assist Physiotherapists and Occupational therapists in the treatment of patients within In-patients and to liaise and communicate appropriately with carers and professionals. To work under the direction of a Physiotherapist/ Occupational therapist but frequently to work without direct supervision.
Main duties of the job
To deliver treatment and progress treatment plans within the acute setting.
To order, monitor, adjust and maintain equipment.
To disseminate physiotherapy treatment programmes by educating patients and carers to carry out exercises and use equipment competently.
To support with D2A's. When inpatient therapists are completing a D2A to assist with the visit and assessment
To support non-clinical activities including use of IT, data input, compiling documents, maintaining databases, ordering equipment and assisting the maintenance and efficient running of the service.

- Patient communication will include gaining consent for all treatment in the best interest of patients in line with the Mental Capacity Act and Safeguarding policies.
- Organise own diary and caseload. Be responsible for own workload as delegated by the physiotherapist/Occupational Therapist.
- To be responsible for carrying out and progressing delegated workload, reporting back progress or change to the Physiotherapist/Occupational Therapist.
- To adhere to Trust guidance, standards and legislation.
- To contribute to team service development and local implementation of national policy and guidelines.
- Order equipment from the community equipment stores as delegated by the Physiotherapist .

- Appropriate Level 3 Qualification/A levels : 3 A-Levels or Health and Science T-Level or equivalent level 3qualification(s) and Functional Skills(level 2) Or - as a level 3 apprenticeship, such as the Senior Healthcare Support Worker apprenticeship (or other level 3 qualification pathway
Desirable
- Care Certificate
- Level 3 or 4 occupation specific qualification(s) - such as the Senior Healthcare Support Worker apprenticeship Competency based development and other role specific local training
Knowledge and experience

- Excellent personal communication skills and child friendly communication and play skills
- Flexible and adaptable approach
