Job summary

This is a new and exciting opportunity for a Dental Therapist to join the Department of Restorative Dentistry at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust. This post is for 0.4 WTE but applications for less than this would be considered.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for a group of NHS High Priority patients undergoing complex, highly specialised, multidisciplinary restorative dental treatment.

Use advanced knowledge and skills to assess clinical situations and select appropriate management techniques, adapting them as required to the specific needs complex high priority group patients.

Monitor the dental health of patients, assess developments in the patients' dental health, record all findings accordingly and report to Senior members of the clinical team.

Provide a range of specialised dental care within Hospital and other peripheral settings (if required).

Responsible for prolonged periods of time undertaking detailed work with high levels of precision and accuracy. Use highly developed physical skills to use a range of precision tools and equipment for Restorative dentistry intervention. Routine use of specialised equipment.

Provide assessment and treatment within the full scope of Dental Therapy, including tooth whitening, management of periodontal diseases and complex restorations.

Engage with service development through refining patient referral and management and discharge pathways.

Actively participate in quality improvement and audit

Where required, supervise students or other members of staff as the team develops.
