Are you a skilled physiotherapist with an interest in digital technology and virtual reality therapy? We are looking for a permanent part-time Band 6 Physiotherapist to join the Torbay and South Devon Pain Rehabilitation Team and MSK Physiotherapy Service.
Our innovative Pain rehab team work closely with the Digital Futures team, and have been running a hybrid 60% telerehab and 40% face to face service over the last 4 years. We currently use CUREO 4.0 virtual reality enhanced therapy systems in the chronic pain service, and are looking to roll this out across MSK Physiotherapy departments.
The MSK physiotherapy service offers rapid access, self-referral and the well-established Single Point of Access (SPoA) pathways from physiotherapy into orthopaedics for patients with hip, knee and spinal conditions. CPD is at the forefront of our service, ensuring we offer high quality care to our patients.
Knowledge of virtual reality either professionally or personally is essential. Experience of different hardware/software applications is desirable - such as meta (oculus) quest, HTC Vive, FLOW goggles and Kat VR treadmill systems. We are looking for someone committed to exploring the value of virtual reality therapy in physiotherapy and who is willing to contribute to service audit, evaluation and some research opportunities. You will be working 3 days a week in pain rehabilitation, and one day a week in MSK Physiotherapy.
Main duties of the job
o Delivery of virtual reality enhanced 1-2-1 and group therapy sessions across Pain Rehabilitation and MSK physiotherapy services.o Rapid access, self-referral service - seen within 72 hours and often the first point of contact for musculoskeletal conditions.o Recent development of Single Point of Access pathways - able to refer directly into specialist services - Orthopaedics (hip, knee, spinal)o Well established referral pathways across Pain Rehabilitation, MSK, Women's Health, Vestibular and Rheumatology serviceso Close MDT linkso Opportunities for training and development including Clinical Interest Groups, Fellowships and Specialist orthopaedic second opinion clinics
