Main duties of the job
- Supporting and assisting medical and nursing staff with investigations and technical procedures.
- Chaperoning patients having intimate procedures.
- Performing venepuncture and processing swabs and samples.
- Preparing and cleaning clinical rooms for patient examinations.

Job responsibilities
- To participate in team building and communication to develop a cohesive, supportive and effective team.
- To assist with the household and general duties and aware of Health and Safety issues within the work area. Also responsible for maintaining stock levels particularly regarding patient information and relevant paperwork required.
- Collect equipment and results from the laboratory
- Ensure samples delivered to Laboratory by courier
- To ensure confidentiality of all patients details at all times.
- To be aware of routine tests and examinations that medical/nursing staff will carry out. Ensure all relevant equipment required in clinic room for their use. Assist as required medical and nursing staff and support patients during treatments or investigations.
- To support patients during their visit to clinic showing an awareness of their emotional, social and physical needs. Particular support required when undergoing medical investigations.
- To reinforce professional advice and support given to patients. Dealing with distressed patients and relatives in a sensitive manner ensuring their privacy and dignity at all times.
- To assist in maintaining high standards and quality nursing care within agreed Departmental and Trust policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of emergency procedures e.g. fire, violent incident
- Responsibility for finance, equipment and other resources
- To undertake a responsible attitude towards economy and care of equipment and property. To report any shortages in equipment or faulty equipment.
- To be aware of own responsibility to attend mandatory training.
- To identify and discuss, with manager other training needs or requirements.
- Information technology and administrative duties.
- General keyboard skills for recording patient observations on electronic patient record system.
