Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon - Hand & Wrist surgery

Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust

The closing date is 15 July 2024

Job summary

Due to expansion of services, an exciting new opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, innovative and forward-thinking full-time Consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedics. A subspecialist interest in hand and wrist surgery is essential.

The successful applicant will also work in partnership with the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital hand service. The RD&E offers an internationally recognised combined orthopaedic and plastic hand surgery service, and, depending upon the experience and clinical requirements of the successful applicant, is where we anticipate that a proportion of clinical work and/or networked decision making will be undertaken by the post holder.

Main duties of the job

The majority of your clinical time will be spent at Torbay Hospital, providing both sub-specialist hand and wrist services as well as general trauma & orthopaedic cover. In addition, a further part of your time will be spent in the Orthoplastic Hand Unit at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital, to aid in the delivery of networked MDT care as part of a recently established regional service. You will be providing hand surgery expertise and general skeletal trauma services to our population.
