The Paediatric Clinical Psychology team is comprised of a team of four Clinical Psychologists. The wider health psychology team is comprised of Clinical Psychologists, Psychological Therapists, Clinical Associates in Psychology (CAP) as well as Trainee Clinical Psychologists.

The paediatric service supports children, young people and families across Torbay and South Devon when children and young people have physical health problems. The service operates a hybrid face to face and remote service, although more and more clinics are now tending to be face to face. Face to face clinics operate out of John Parkes Unit, Torbay Hospital Annexe.

The paediatric team work with children, young people and their families to support them with living alongside a health condition. For example work may involve topics such as, coping and adjustment to illness, adhering to medical treatment, coping with the impact of past bullying, support with developing relationships at school, managing changes (e.g., moving to a new school or to adult services). Psychological interventions focus on helping children and young people in a holistic way. This may entail individual work with parents, children, siblings or group work. We also work closely with other teams who may contribute to a child's care (e.g., health, education, children's services).
