We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, dedicated, forward thinking Paediatric nurse who will be committed to their role with a determination to ensure patients receive the highest standards of care.
The Paediatric Dermatology Team is looking for a dynamic Paediatric nurse to help in the support and treatment of children and young people with skin conditions. We anticipate the successful candidate working alongside our existing paediatric dermatology specialist nurse initially, as a period of transition. Previous dermatology or allergy knowledge would be desired but not essential. We anticipate a period of training initially.

Main duties of the job
- To work as an autonomous practitioner to assess, monitor and evaluate treatment efficacy and management of the patient pathway.
- Develops education programmes for patients/carers to promote their understanding and evolve strategies for self-management.
- Demonstrates specialist knowledge and shares this with others to positively influence patient care.
- Improve and maintain standards of care with the speciality.
- Acts as a specialist advisor in all matters relating to paediatric dermatology to health care workers within the Trust and provide support, where specific medical advice is not required.
- Communicate very sensitive condition related information to patients, family and carers, requiring high levels of empathy and reassure, using advanced communication skills
- Acts as patients advocate where relevant.
- Acts as a point of contact for the patients and their families for advice and support.
- To accept referrals for new patients in the Paediatric Eczema and Acne clinics and agree a diagnosis, devise a treatment regime and plan future review/discharge as appropriate. To provide nurse led follow up clinics including Acne, Eczema clinics, second line monitoring and telephone clinics.
- To be aware of and undertake responsibilities with regard to Child Protection procedures (both national and local), liaising with the multidisciplinary team and working within the philosophy that the needs of the child are paramount

The Outpatient Dermatology Department at Torbay Hospital runs different variety of clinics and treatments to accommodate surgical and inflammatory patients.
You will work with the existing dermatology specialist nurses and form part of the larger dermatology team. The post holder is required to provide clinical and managerial expertise in all aspects of skin and wound care in all clinical areas, ensuring patients and their families/carers receive the highest possible standard of care, with effective and efficient utilisation of resources.
