Job summary
We are seeking to appoint a Ward Clerk to provide reception and clerical support to Allerton ward ward and assist in maintaining a high standard of record keeping at ward level.
You will need to be organised & able to communicate with, patients, visitors and members of the multi disciplinary team.

Main duties of the job
Answering the telephone
Arranging for notes to come to the ward, filing notes after discharge
Ensuring notes are sent to the correct area after discharge
Supporting the MDT in clerical roles
Ordering stationary and equipment
About us
Allerton ward is based at Torbay Hospital in South Devon. We are a busy gastrointestinal/surgical Unit. Our ward is very friendly and is a positive place to work. Your role is vital in the ward running smoothly and effectively. Front of house-welcoming all onto our ward and supporting/directing.

- To provide reception service for all patients and visitors to Allerton ward.
- To ensure that all discharge summaries are completed and sent out in line with Trust Policy.
- To request and collect case notes as necessary and ensure they are available for the MDT.
- Distribute incoming post and redirect as necessary.
- To keep the nurses station tidy and maintain levels of stationary.
- Ensure the day to day maintence of patients case notes, including the insertion of investigations reports, filing plans/nursing notes ensuring all contents are filed strictly in accordance with the current protocol and ensure results are available in a timely fashion.
- To ensure patients/admissions/clinic appointments and outcomes and transfer details are accurate and up to date to the computer systems.
- Clerical support for the Senior sister.
- Be able to use computer systems, photocopy and scan and order equipment and stationary.

- Experience in similar clerical role
- 4 GCSE's or equivalent level of educaion
- Knowledge of PAS
