To provide quality & accurate administration & clerical support to the Community Dental Service (CDS).
To maintain accuarate accounts from the collection of dental charges & prepare banking.
Call handle for our continuing care patients as well as unregistered patients seeking urgent dental treatment. Provide information to patients regarding dental care, charges & exemptions
Frontline face to face admin support, communicating with service users, carers & healthcare professionals face to face, via email & over the telephone.
Use our bespoke dental software to ensure accurate records are kept & clinics are booked appropriately.
Possibility of the role becoming permanent.
Main duties of the job
Process and administer face to face, written, telephone and email enquires from both internal and members of the public, clinical and non clinical.
Book clinical lists for all sites.
Provide accuate information and advice about dental services and access to NHS dental care.
Ascertain whether patients should pay NHS charges or if they are in receipt of relevant benefits that make them exempt from charges. Collect dental charges, keep acuate financial records and bank payments. Take responsibility for the securiety of monies.
Obtain sensitive personal, social and medical information often of a complex nature. Often this will be with interpreters, with patients who have learning disabilities, patients who have visual and/or auditory impairments, have communication difficluties or cannot read or write.
Care for and maintain reception equipment.

Patients are referred to us from other social and healthcare professionals to obtain urgent or on-going dental provision. We have clinics in Torquay, Newton Abbot, Mobile Dental Unit, day surgery at Torbay Hospital and domicillary care.

- Actively participate in peer review and governance activities to ensure that the highest standards of patient care and business conduct are in place. This ensures that the CDS operates in an effective, honest and open way.
- Manages and maintains the dental software system which records patient's notes, waiting lists, databases and the appointment system.
- Organises daily tasks and activities, including maintaining the appointment system to make optimim use of clinical time. Operating and maintaining the recall and waiting lists.
- Ensure the safe transfer of confidential information between staff members.
- Ensure the safe storage of confidential information in a paper or electronic format.
