Job summary
The UTC Clinical Service Lead is responsible together with the senior management team for setting the vision and direction for the service, in context of the wider Integrated Service Unit and Integrated Care Organisation.
Overseeing the development and delivery of the service ensuring the objectives of the service and Trust are met. This will involve working with the senior management team to ensure the service meets all of its performance, quality, governance and financial targets.
You will provide leadership to deliver the service and trust objectives . As part of the UEC leadership team you will have access to both acute and primary care senior colleagues to consider new ways of working to support the local community .
Alongside the leadership team there is access to innovation , research and development teams who are actively engaged in supporting teams to improve services for our people and for the community we serve . The role will be involved in the design of UEC for Torbay and South Devon as part of the brighter future program.
Main duties of the job
- Overseeing the development and delivery of the service which encompasses the main UTC at Newton Abbot and MIU's at Totnes and Dawlish ( currently closed) . Working with an experienced Clinical lead practitioner the role supports the team of advanced practitioners and nurses to deliver a service to the local community
- To ensure that there is a system of continuous improvement incorporating innovative ways of working including Information Technology and Telemedicine that support patient-centred care, prevention and self-care and that there is a demonstrable improvement in the quality of care delivered
- To provide a medical perspective on protocols and pathways related to service improvement within the service and Care group and actively participate in service change and planning discussions.
- To ensure that the service works constructively with Commissioners and partners in delivery of health and social care in the Torbay and South Devon Community.
- To develop and implement the Service Strategy and Business plan in conjunction with the ED clinical lead , Operational Manager and Clinical lead practitioner which support the Trust's Strategic Direction, and the services provided by the Trust.
- To ensure that clinical services are delivered in the most cost-effective way and to share responsibility for achieving the financial targets of the directorate. To ensure that the assessment of Cost Improvement Plans are assessed for their potential impact on quality and safety.
