Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Dawlish Community Hospital for a full time Band 2 Healthcare Assistant. Dawlish Ward is a 16-bedded unit, caring for predominantly Older Adults who require rehabilitation following orthopaedic, surgical and medical admissions. We also admit directly from patients own homes, and palliative patients for End of Life care. Our friendly team value a multi-disciplinary approach to ensure teamworking. We work closely with our GPs and community colleagues.

You will have an NVQ 2 qualification or above, and at least 12 months experience in care in the last three years. You will provide high standards of care to our patients, working independently and prioritising your workload to ensure quality care. You will demonstrate a caring and compassionate approach. We can offer you a period of supernumerary to the right candidate to support you into your role, and further learning and development are encouraged.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a caring and compassionate person who is able to work within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a high standard of individualised nursing care to our patients.

You will need excellent communication skills, and be able to work independently, prioritising your workload to ensure the best outcomes for patients.

You will ensure that your own actions support the care, protection and well-being of individuals, and ensure their privacy and dignity at all times.

You will need to be flexible as this is a rotational post which includes days, nights and weekend working.
