Permanent, full time Physician Associate within Cardiology
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Physician Associate, with good communication and organisational skills to complement our existing, dedicated inpatient healthcare team, within Cardiology
Main duties of the job
The successful appointee will be expected to work alongside junior doctors and nurses to help deliver high standards of care.
Once in post there will be an opportunity to gain specific skills that will enable you to become an invaluable member of the team.
Close supervision and training will be provided during a defined period and beyond, enabling the individual to embed core skills, knowledge and competencies, and a designated consultant supervisor will oversee and support career development.
About us
The Cardiology Service at Torbay Hospital provides a 24/7 primary PCI, elective PCI, pacing, complex devices, Coronary CT and Cardiac MRI, in addition to standard non-invasive services.
The cardiology department comprises of 10 cardiologists; 5 interventionalists based on CCU/CPU, 3 non-interventionalists based on the cardiac ward and 2 LTFT consultants
Dunlop ward comprises of 10-20 cardiology beds (averaging 14 most days). Each morning at 0900 there is a SAFER briefing/handover followed by a ward round of all cardiac patients, whilst the medical patients are looked after by a dedicated medical consultant and junior doctor.
The cardiac ward patients tend to be those with heart failure requiring IV diuresis or a more stable cardiac condition including those awaiting for surgery.
