Job summary

The appointment is for a substantive 10 PA Consultant in Gynaecological Oncology. The post is based at St Michael's Hospital.

The appointee will be an experienced Gynaecological Oncology clinician who has completed sub-specialty training in Gynaecological Oncology. Additional ATSMs complementary to the existing department would be welcomed.

The successful candidate will be expected to participate as a full team-member of the tertiary Gynaecological Oncology team, including contributing to audit and research in the service. Experience in robotic surgery would be desirable.

The post holder will be expected to participate in emergency 'hot week' cover, and there is a non-resident (1 in 15) on call covering Gynaecology only.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be expected to provide inpatient and outpatient care to patients referred with suspected gynaecological cancer pathways and cervical cancer screening pathways in liaison with Bristol Gynaecological Cancer Centre. These will include treatment of early-stage endometrial cancers and microinvasive cervical cancers. In addition, successful candidate will also provide acute and elective gynaecological care to patients attending St Michael's Hospital in conjunction with the current consultants. He / she should have expertise at consultant level in general gynaecological surgery covering both elective and emergency procedures
