Job summary

We are looking for a highly motivated, compassionate senior nurse to join the Division of Specialised Services as Deputy Director of Nursing . The division manages the Bristol Heart Institute, Bristol Oncology and Haematology Hospital along with patients accessing those specialist services in Weston Hospital and the Clinical Genetics service.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an exceptional leader, with proven operational skills who possesses vision, energy, ambition and is committed to supporting teams to provide the very highest standards of care. A keen interest in the divisional specialisms, particularly cancer services is required.

The role is very exciting with education, research, and clinical practice included in the portfolio along with operational and strategic leadership. Working in a fantastic team, the successful candidate will have opportunity to develop their skills, knowledge and experience in all these areas to support and develop services.

  • NMC Registration (RN)
  • Have significant clinical and operational experience and evidence of commitment to continuing managerial development
  • Educated to Master's Degree in a related subject (e.g. clinical or management) or hold an equivalent level professional qualification or be working towards

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Extensive leadership and clinical operational management experience in a medium/large acute healthcare provider setting
  • Significant senior clinical management experience within a complex service provider organisation.
  • Substantial clinical management experience and achievement at operational level
  • Working with staff both within and across various disciplines.
  • Understanding of current NHS National Policies
  • Experience of directly line managing and providing strategic leadership to specialist staff/multidisciplinary service teams
  • Demonstrable understanding of quality and risk management issues and standards.
