Job summary
The Clinical Genetics service covers the areas of Bristol, Bath, Gloucestershire and North Somerset, and is led by the University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust based at St Michael's Hospital in the centre of Bristol. The service provides specialist clinics in Bristol and throughout the region. The post holder will be part of a team providing administrative support to the clinical team and will undertake a variety of tasks to deliver a quality service to users.
The Clinic Co-ordinator works closely with the clinical team to process referrals, book clinic appointments and outcome clinic appointments. The post holder will be actively responsible for the daily workloads ensuring deadlines are achieved. Work demands can change daily, therefore there will be an expectation to prioritise work accordingly. The post holder will need to be flexible to meet the duties and responsibilities of their role.
Due to the nature of the work undertaken in the Clinical Genetics Department, the post holder should be aware that they may be exposed to emotionally upsetting/distressing news and situations.
Main duties of the job
To support the triaging of referrals by liaising with key clinical staff Manage patient communications both via telephone and through Trust systems to create letters, emails and text reminders. Communicate changes to clinics and appointments to patients as instructed, often at short notice.
