The WISH Centre is seeking a motivated Sexual Health Advisor to join the team. The post is a fixed term role for six months (ending 31.03.2025) and is ideal for someone who wants to develop their experience in sexual health.
The WISH Centre is a part of Unity Sexual Health, who provides specialist integrated sexual health services in the BNSSG area. The WISH Centre provides Level 3 integrated sexual health care in North Somerset, where people can access contraception and sexual health during the same appointment. The team consists of experienced clinical nurse specialists some of whom are Non-Medical Prescribers, IUS/IUD and Sub dermal Implant fitters, Specialist Consultants, Health Care Support Workers and Administrative staff
The Health Adviser role a position that requires practice that is informed by higher levels of judgement, decision-making and discretion. Key elements of the role, is to provide specialist support, advice and information to service users, the public, colleagues and multidisciplinary teams. This is particularly important in the area of disseminating and giving results to patients, arrangement of treatments, counselling and partner notification. The successful candidate will also play a significant role in setting standards/guidelines; undertaking audit and research; educating others, and disseminating good practice.
Main duties of the job
To provide advice, information and education to patients diagnosed with sexually transmitted infections.
To carry out partner notification, to ensure the correct treatment of contacts.
To manage tests results appropriately and arrange for correct treatments for positive results.
To provide ongoing support for those with associated concerns, eg, sexual identisity, relationships, sexual health advice etc.
To provide risk reduction and safer sex advice.
Provide teaching to internal and external organisations.
A high standard of communication and interpersonal skills are essential and the applicants should be able to be demonstrate the ability to be forward thinking and passionate about delivering a high standard of care. You will be expected to be a responsive and conscientious professional that is able to work as part of the Multidisciplinary team. A good knowledge of safeguarding is essential.
