Job summary

The key focus of the practice educator for practice based learning is to support learners to have a positive on boarding experience, supporting clinical assessors and supervisors as well as line managers and other key stakeholders to monitor and track learner progression and providingtargeted support in practice as required to ensure positive learner experience and outcomes.You will work in partnership with the widening engagement team, the placement co-ordinator,system partners and higher education institute partners to support pre-registration and clinical apprenticeship programmes as well as supporting the learner pipeline activity linked with clinical facing programmes, such as the technical level (T-Level), traineeships, level 5- 6 foundation degree learners and wider work placement activity linked to the NHS long-term workforce plan.

Main duties of the job

The practice educator for practice based learning will be responsible for a learner caseload which will include pre-registration nursing, midwifery, allied health professionals, clinical apprentices and pipeline learners and in partnership with the practice development team support healthcare support workers and preceptees across the divisions.As part of the role it is expected that the post holder will actively build networks with key stakeholders across the divisions and provide effective outreach and targeted support for assessors, supervisors and learners directly in clinical practice.The role may also entail face to face teaching of small and large groups such as student/staff forums, recruitment events and Induction and you may be required to support, supervise and assess learners in practice as required and in partnership with the divisional practice education facilitators.The practice educator for practice based learning will champion clinical skills provision for a diverse group of learners. In partnership with key stakeholders they will ensure that policy and clinical guidelines reflect the scope of practice for clinical learners aligned to the relevant professionalstandards, proficiencies and competencies for each programme of learning.The role will also support teaching to support practice assessors and practice supervisors to ensure that they remain up to date and have the knowledge, skills and resources to effectively supervise and assess learners in practice.
