Job summary

We are seeking experienced physiotherapists with a specialist interest in the relationship between musculoskeletal (MSK) health & work. All parts of the workforce can be affected by MSK health problems; it is one of the most common reasons for sickness absence in the NHS. Supporting staff health & wellbeing is a key part of the Specialist MSK Physiotherapist's role here at Avon Partnership Occupational Health Service (APOHS).

We are a large NHS occupational health service hosted byUniversity Hospitals Bristol & Weston Trust, in partnership with North Bristol Trust & Sirona care & health. We provide a specialist service to the local health community in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire as well as supporting other private and public sector organisations in the local and surrounding areas.

We have two new opportunities:

1 permanent position (37.5 hrs per week)

1 fixed term for 12-months position (18.75 hrs per week)

Main duties of the job

  • A Band 7 Physiotherapist is a highly experienced clinician, with specialist clinical skills they manage a significant caseload of often complex patients, utilising expert clinical reasoning strategies, knowledge of treatment planning and management.
  • You will demonstrate clinical expertise to an advanced level for patients with musculoskeletal conditions.
  • You will deliver MSK specialist clinics providing advice to managers and employees to enable staff with musculoskeletal health conditions to remain at work, or to return to work at the earliest opportunity.
  • You will complete health at work assessments providing fitness to work opinion/ recommendations as required for persons starting in a new post.
  • You will support where necessary the delivery of the Physio Direct telephone assessment, advice and triage service.
  • You may be responsible for mentoring of Band 6 physiotherapists.
