Job summary
We wish to appoint 1 Senior Clinical fellow at ST/CT 3-8 in Acute Medicine on a 12-month contract. The post is based in the Acute Medicine department at the Bristol Royal Infirmary that will work across both our Acute Medicine Assessment unit and within our Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit. The post has a potential negotiable on-call commitment, at the same frequency as the other SpRs.
The Acute Medicine Team covers 34 in-patient beds across a Acute Medicine Assessment unit and Medical SDEC unit which is comprised of a 30 person waiting room and 10 cubicles within our treatment area. There are opportunities to also be involved in the Acute Medicine Clinic and AKI Clinic, accepting the full range of acutely unwell patients.
Main duties of the job
For this Senior Clinical Fellow post, we are looking for a candidate to work 10-6pm, normal working days, predominantly on our Medical SDEC unit but also Acute Medicine Assessment Unit when needed. The purpose of this post is to provide senior leadership to our Medical SDEC unit and clinical teams who work within it. We would be looking for the successful candidate to help lead with service development and exploring ideas to help further the success of our SDEC department.
The Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI) has 520 beds and is the city's main teaching hospital. The Out-Patient Department holds Clinics for all the major specialties and deals with 153,600 patients per year. The Hospital's Emergency Department deals with 70% of the City's accident cases. Separate units for Haematology, Oncology, Eye, Dental, Children and Maternity cases are within a radius of a quarter of a mile.
