Job summary

Are you dynamic, creative, caring and looking for an opportunity to positively impact upon patient care and patient experience? If so, Draycott and Kewstoke Ward are looking for an Activity Co-ordinator to join their team!

* This role is for 12 months and the post holder will be required to participate in the evaluation of this service. *

Draycott Ward is a 24 bedded Medically Stable for Discharge Ward, which looks after short stay rehabilitation patients that are going home with Pathway One (community services) support or Pathway Two (community rehabilitation units/ beds in the local area).

Kewstoke Ward is a 28 bedded general medical ward specialising in the care of older people.

You will lead on developing a Therapeutic Activity Programme within these two wards as a pilot service, working closely with the nursing and therapy teams. We are looking for a candidate who has excellent communication skills, experience of working with vulnerable groups of patients including those living with Dementia , and who will be innovative in creating and engaging a number of activities including the arts, music, reminiscence therapy and physical activities.

This is a full time (37.5 hours per week) fixed-term position but we would consider 30 hours per week.

Shifts will mainly be during the day, but there may be a requirement to work some later hours according to activities planned.

Main duties of the job

-Supporting patients with nutritional requirements.

-Supporting patients who may have complex physical and mental health needs.

-Creating opportunities for patients to spend time doing activities such as arts and crafts, games and other mindfulness and distraction techniques.

-Working closely with different members of the MDT to develop a range of different support mechanisms for patients.

-Supporting patients who have cognitive impairments and liaising with families, including completing 'This is me' information.
