Job summary

The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a large, dedicated transaction services team across two sites within Finance. Working closely with the Deputy Head of Transactional Services, to deliver a high-quality customer service to all stakeholders.

They will be familiar with departmental goals and aligning targets against key objectives. It is essential to have previous line management experience, to confidently direct the team and act as an escalation point for issues. You will allocate and monitor workloads, working in an agile manner to meet changing business needs, possessing excellent organisational skills and an ability to manage competing demands.

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate your knowledge and experience of both the Accounts Payable and Receivable functions, with a willingness to learn to provide cross-cover supervision with the other managers within the area as needed. The post holder should be a subject matter expert, familiar with processes and supporting documentation, with an ability to identify and contribute to the Trust's continuous process improvement projects.

You will be willing to share your knowledge to support the team, identifying training needs and ensuring your team are skilled as required. The post holder will be responsible for dealing with complex matters, resolving account issues/disputes collaborating with suppliers, customers, and other key stakeholders.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be confident in managing a large volume of data and high value transactions with an ability to manipulate and sort data as required to produce management information and complete month end procedures.Analysing complex and commercially sensitive financial information to problem solve and identify errors.

The post holder should have good working knowledge of excel and be competent in presenting and interpreting data.

This vacancy will be based at either University Bristol and Weston Foundation Hospital - Trust HQ and/or Weston General Hospital, with an element of remote working.

The individual will be responsible for the daily supervision of the team; establishing 1-2-1s; managing performance; conducting appraisals and providing training and development to team members. With an ability to adapt to changing business needs as required. They will need to demonstrate their ability in terms of planning and organising team workloads, adhering to set timetables and strict deadlines, meeting targets and KPIs, ensuring requests are actioned in line with policy, procedures and are audit compliant.

They will deal with complex queries and be the escalation point for queries from your team members and provide advice and guidance to the finance and non-finance managers. The post holder will be keen to assist in identifying areas for improvement, proposing changes to policy and procedures to gain efficiencies and improve KPIs.
