Job summary

We are seeking a skilled and dynamic Assistant Project Manager to join our Capital Team. This role will be responsible for overseeing a variety of projects within our multi-campus, multi-building estate and property portfolio. From inception to commissioning and handover, the successful candidate will work with the Senior Project Manager to ensure that projects are delivered to the highest standards, meeting all objectives within agreed budgets and timelines.

No two days will be the same and the role presents an excellent learning opportunity and a stepping stone to a career in healthcare construction project management.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and prepare service user briefs, identifying service requirements, objectives, and healthcare standards (HTMs and HBNs).
  • Compile and obtain approval for Project Initiation Document/brief.
  • Liaise with engineering Estates Officers, external consultants, and professionals to deliver best value solutions.
  • Provide expert advice on construction-related legislation, including Firecode, Building Regulations, Planning Application Process, Equality Act, Construction Design and Management Regulations, Party Wall matters, and health and safety legislation.
  • Establish project management structures, appoint project team members, and ensure thorough governance procedures are followe

  • Direct specific experience of construction project management including budget management over a wide range of values, from £25,000 - £500,000
  • Experience and demonstrable skills in financial management

Desirable

  • Experience in implementing design principles relating to commercial premises and the production of schedules of work, specifications and Contract Preliminaries
  • NHS and/or public sector experience with Health Technical Memorandums & Health Building Notes

  • Possession of an up to date knowledge of legislation and regulations relating to all aspects of planning, construction and good working practices
