Paediatric Weight Management Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS)
0.8 - 0.9 WTE (30- 33.5 hrs) until March 2025

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic nurse to join our dynamic childhood weight management team at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.
We are also the Southwest Hub centre for delivering the Complications of Excess Weight (CEW) service commissioned by NHS England.
The childhood weight management team serves the population in BNSSG and provides support for its Spoke centre at Plymouth and Cornwall through monthly virtual MDT meetings. Families have input from our multi-professional team which consists of clinical psychologists, specialist dietitians, specialist social worker and medical specialists. The post holder will be an integral member of this team and will collaborate with schools and other teams outside of this organisation.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be expected to actively participate both in the Consultant led clinics and therapy clinics, be confident and able to communicate on a wide range of levels. You will run your own nurse-led clinics within the service to review patient progress between appointments and to monitor specific complications related to excess weight. You will also facilitate the child's self-management of their condition and enable the child to make informed health choices to reduce the risk of complications. Providing education and training for families in the use of treatments in a key component of this role.
You will need to work using your own initiative, demonstrate problem solving and excellent organisational skills. You must be able to work flexibly and provide a safe, friendly, and efficient service.
